6A – IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES IN ECONOMIC & REGULATORY TRENDS

1) Economic Trend: Trump Seeks New Fed Board Seats Source: Wall Street Journal -  https://www.wsj.com/articles/white-house-adviser-says-fed-board-nominees-should-support-easy-money-policies-11548375931 Economic Opportunity/Trend: I think this creates an opportunity for qualified Economist who want to fight to have a seat in the Federal Reserve Board. As President Donald Trump is seeking to fill upcoming two vacancies in the board. President Trump has been known that in the previous months has highly disagreed with the current Fed because of his constant rise in interest rates. Interest Group: Again, I believe highly qualified Economist that can be to President Trump liking would be ideal. Even though the current Fed was appointed by Trump, they have strongly disagreed on interest rates increase. So the upcoming seats I am sure must be someone close to the president that can have similar economic ideologies. Exploitability: The interest rates being rates are not a necessarily go...

5A - IDENTIFYING LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES

1) Title:   State senator calls for plastic bag, straw ban for businesses that sell take-out food Link:   https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/politics/fl-ne-nsf-plastic-straw-bill-introduced-20190124-story.html Summary : A law is being passed in Tallahassee to bank plastic bags and straws from restaurants, this law is not yet fully passed but it did pass the first step, the final bill will be voted at the end of February. The ban also set a fine for restaurants that violate this bill, $500 fine for the first time and $1000 for any subsequent violation. The article also mentions how cities in Broward county already banned straws and plastic bags, and cities like Hallandale and Fort Lauderdale are following the measures taken first by Delray Beach. What is the problem? The problem is that many restaurants will be forced to give other alternatives when it comes to plastic bags or straws. This will become an issue because the costs will change for many businesses, so for some, ...

4A – FORMING AN OPPORTUNITY BELIEF SUBMIT ASSIGNMENT

1)  I believe there is an opportunity for a low-cost airline to penetrate the Latin-American market, big airlines like American Airlines and Delta are the few American airlines that operate in the Latin-American market. Some Latin airlines include; Copa Airlines, LATAM, Avianca and Aerolineas Argentina. Most of these airlines are partnered with Delta and American Airlines. This creates kind of a monopoly in which they set their own prices. It is ridiculous to find $400 Round trip Miami-Madrid and a ticket from Miami to Santiago, Chile costs $1100. keeping in mind is about the same distance and length of the trip. 2)  The unmet need is that for travelers is much more expensive to get to South and Central America while reaching Europe or Asia is a lot cheaper. The need is for the demand of many Latin-American people that live in the United States or Canada, also for whoever pleases to visit Countries like Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Chile. I thi...

3A - YOUR ENTREPRENEURSHIP STORY

Image
This previous summer I had the opportunity to intern at HKS Industrial while working in the company my boss had recently partnered a recently opened restaurant. The restaurant's name was Hattori by Hanzo, it was a Peruvian-Japanese fusion food called 'Nikkei'. My boss at that time asked me to also help him do marketing things for the restaurant. While I had already a lot of work with HKS, I had to on top do most of the marketing for Hattori, it was quite a daunting task! But I could not say no to my boss, therefore I took on the role and it was very rewarding because I devoted so much time creating pamphlets and marketing ideas in order to make the restaurant grow. It was so much dedication and love that I started to develop for the restaurant, that I worked until September of last year with the restaurant and being far away made me stop because I felt I could not help as much as before. Anyways, I talked to the restaurant during winter break and they were having record num...

2A- BUG LIST

Bug List 1. The lines of TSA at large airports are too long. This bug is a very stressing one because of the lines at large airports like Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, have extremely long lines. Not only you have to take off your shoes, but remove laptop and iPad, also remove liquids and having to use like 3 trays is very nervewracking. After that people are rushing to get dressed, put their belts and shoes on, grabbing your coat and your laptops and bag get all messy. 2. No space to place your carry-on inside the airplane. Since airlines started charging people for taking luggage, and carry on fee being waved it has created a big problem to find space for bags in the main cabin. This bug is very frustrating because it makes your flying experience quite stressing not knowing if you will find space for your carry-on. 3. Parking at The Standard is too expensive. Monthly payments for parking your car at The Standard are over $150.00. I find this price to be outrageous w...
