2A- BUG LIST
Bug List
1. The lines of TSA at large airports are too long.
This bug is a very stressing one because of the lines at large airports like Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, have extremely long lines. Not only you have to take off your shoes, but remove laptop and iPad, also remove liquids and having to use like 3 trays is very nervewracking. After that people are rushing to get dressed, put their belts and shoes on, grabbing your coat and your laptops and bag get all messy.
2. No space to place your carry-on inside the airplane.
Since airlines started charging people for taking luggage, and carry on fee being waved it has created a big problem to find space for bags in the main cabin. This bug is very frustrating because it makes your flying experience quite stressing not knowing if you will find space for your carry-on.
3. Parking at The Standard is too expensive.
Monthly payments for parking your car at The Standard are over $150.00. I find this price to be outrageous when residents already are paying a lot for their rent. With that said it is also very confusing how visitor parking works, and it makes it complicated when out of town visitors come to Gainesville.
4. Car insurance is too expensive for young car owners.
I've had a driving license for the past 8 years and my insurance cost has been the same for this entire time. I have only gotten 2 tickets with no points, no car accidents, and the price of my insurance does not change. I pay more than every single member of my family, including my stepfather who is 72. And my mother who seems to get a speeding ticket at least once every 6 months.
5. Car drivers should pay more attention to motorcycles and scooters.
As you drive a 2 wheel vehicle you begin to notice how often people are driving careless, not using their turn signal, text or use their phone while driving and that puts us at huge risk as you have to be extremely careful and keep your eyes open to avoid any accidents.
6. Waiting with a ticket in your hand not knowing your place in line.
Don't you hate when you go to the DMV or a doctors office, and you have to take a ticket to have a place in line, but the display machine is not in order or they don't even have one so you have to go check to see where is your place in line. This bug is very annoying and should become more technologized. Maybe creating an app or giving a pager like they do in restaurants.
7. Using phone services abroad.
I believe that nowadays we should have global coverage with our phone, roaming charges are way too expensive when simply using the phone abroad. Some companies do offer free data service but in reality, it is way too slow and I believe there is some opportunity for growth here form big alliances like airlines.
8. Lack of public transportation in the US.
There is considerably less public transportation methods and usage across the United States than in European countries. It seems only cities in the Northeast feature subways and reliable ground transportation, in the West Coast other than San Francisco and Seattle there are no options whatsoever.
9. More options to travel in/out of Gainesville.
We should implement more methods of transportation for students and civilians of Gainesville, possibly create fast speed trains connecting Gainesville, with Florida main cities; Jacksonville, Tampa, Tallahassee, and Miami via Orlando. In European cities, the usage of high-speed train has made possible for citizens to live in country A but work in country B.
10. Infrastructure around Gainesville.
As you ride around Gainesville, you can see there are many potholes in the streets, also streets that have no proper street painting. I think this is an issue we could address by creating more modern infrastructure and building more durable roads and buildings.
11. Job applications should be shorter.
There are too many things when applying for a job online, especially signing disclosures of integrity and race. I believe this could be done through a third party that just by doing it once you acknowledge it for most of the job applications. In terms of answering questions and what not that is fine, but sometimes we have to reiterate most of the information even when it is stated on our resume.
12. Too many hidden fees when purchasing entertainment tickets.
Have you ever been to a concert or sports event and have been fooled by the face price of the ticket? You are not alone. sometimes you add a $60 ticket and you have to end up paying $20 more in ridiculous fees ($80 in total) that make it so more expensive than what the person initially believed.
13. NBC Sports offering their Gold service.
NBC Sports is a paid channel that people include in their service line up. So people are already paying extra to watch this channel that only airs select Premier League matches. Before you could simply log in online with your TV provider and watch that particular game. Now you must pay an extra membership of $20 a month to access those matches. I see how they are trying to get more money, but I believe that this service should be included already since customers are already paying to watch that channel.
14. Netflix offering different tv shows and movies abroad.
Netflix does not offer the same line up in every country. That happened to me when I was watching a tv show abroad and came to the US and that show was not being offered in the states. I believe they should have the ability to air all shows for everybody and create a homogenous media site. Also, that way if people want to access a larger selection of French movies and films they could.
15. Fortnite has too many release problems.
The popular game of Fortnite usually has new updates on a weekly or biweekly basis. This updates come with lots of bugs and makes it rarely to play the game without these bugs. It is very frustrating for the players because once and for all they want to play a steady game without any issues, but instead, Fortnite dedicates more time in creating newer gameplay activities than making sure it will perform 100%.
16. NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, and MLS should have a relegation system.
I believe there are too many teams in every league they should create tiers 1 and 2. So clubs don't tank at the end of the season and create more competitiveness around the league. If you had the NFL tier 1 and 2 with 16 teams each, you could make both of these leagues compete with every other single team out there, this will make it a more fair competition for everybody and create two exciting leagues. In England the first tier of soccer gets a lot of attention but also the second tier is quite important and all over the news.
17. UF should find a replacement for ProctorU.
If you have used ProctorU in the past the most likely is that you have a had an issue while using their service in the past. I believe these struggles or issues are very occurrent and must be addressed to see if there is a better online proctoring service that the university could switch to.
18. Amazon delivering packages at a later date than stated.
Sometimes people pay for overnight shipping and do not receive the package by the date they said it supposed to arrive. Why do they assure you your package will arrive the next day but it does not? this can be a bug for many that rely on Amazon and their shipping speed.
19. Why do we have to buy Car or Houses through Dealerships and Realtors?
Why couldn't we just simply buy a car online, avoiding having to go to the dealership and have a tug-o-war over the price you are willing to pay. Cars and Houses should have fix price and if the vendor decides to lower the price or give a coupon let so be it, but the fact that you might have paid more than somebody else is not a good feeling.
20. Study Edge removing your tokens after canceling membership.
I do not understand why Study Edge removes your tokens after canceling the membership, even though you paid for them and you own them. I believe this is a bug because you pay and you should be entitled to those tokens forever or at least set an expiration date.
Personal Reflection:
Overall the assignment was difficult it took some time to write down all the bugs, but writing them about it was not difficult, just indentifying the bugs. It had me thinking in how many business opportunities to seize these bugs there is, but obviously it is easier said than done. It is easier to identify them but creating a solution is also quite of a daunting task. We still have a bright future ahead of us, dispite this long list of bugs. That is why we have entrepreneurs and classes like this to help us reach new things, and make this a world surrounded by innovation.

Oh man you have a lot of very good bugs! I think that a lot of these have been around for a long time and no one seems to try and do anything about them. My favorite one is the too many hidden fees when purchasing entertainment tickets. Purchases now a days cost so much more than what the label says and it really sucks. I like what you said in your reflection about how these are the problems entrepreneurs are going to solve!
ReplyDeletehi mario
ReplyDeletei fully enjoyed reading through your bug list, i have found myself relating to a lots of bugs you have mentioned, for example UF should find a replacement for proctor U, during last semester i was taking business statistics, and we had to use proctor u for our exam, and we had to use this application for our exam, and the application works fine on daily bases like doing our homework and whatever it works fine, but when it comes to proctor U it literally crashes every time
