19A - IDEA NAPKIN NO.2

I skipped the last couple of assignments so I was not able to gather new information about myself.
1) Me: I have not changed I'm still the same: Mario Paredes was born in Chile in 1995. After moving to the US at age 12, from Chile he has grown a lot and learned a lot. He lived one year in Germany, where he learned the German language. He now speaks fluently three languages: Spanish, English, and German. Other than that, his skills are pretty much the same as an average University of Florida student. He is very good at finding good deals and purchasing good at a low price. He has had the opportunity to travel a lot on his own, where it has to lead him to grow a lot as a person, throughout different experiences abroad. He does not enjoy being in his comfort zone as he feels sometimes that drags him down so he needs to be constantly looking for new upcoming challenges. By having traveled so much, and speaking different languages he has been able to detect flaws in international travel. Bringing this experience to create a new airline that starts operating within the Latin American market and especially long-haul routes to the United States and Canada.

2)   Service: The service I still hold the same ideal of providing travelers the flexibility of low-cost prices on international travel from/to North America and South America. The other competing airlines have controlled the prices for the last couple of years, making it absurd and almost having a monopoly due to alliances and price manipulation. This would be a way to enter a market offering the best service along with the best prices. Also creating new routes for markets that do not have the chance to fly to certain destinations.

3)   Prospective Users:  The prospective users or target group of Blankenese Airlines remain unchanged, the main users of the services our airline would provide would be to families with Hispanic background and wish to go back to their home country to visit family members and friends. Also, we would include people and families in South American cities that wish to travel to North America as this is a top choice for people traveling. Also, firms that have an international presence across North America and South America would be valuable customers.

4)   Why provide this service? : Here we have been able to notice a flaw in international travel in which we would like to revamp the service as many airlines in Europe and Asia have done in the previous years: current airlines that travel to South America have set extremely high prices on certain routes where they have no competition, thus creating kind of a monopoly when it comes to air travel. They are allowed to control prices because of alliances created among airlines. We have also experienced that people are in discontent when it comes to air travel. Services have been in decline in order to cut costs. Meanwhile, the experiences of air travel are very bothersome for most people.

5)   Core Competencies: In this instance, Blankenese Airline has some good strong points as we will rest assure of providing the best service out there, newer aircraft that are the most fuel efficient to date. This will also create a greener impact in the world as the emission of carbon dioxide gasses would be reduced tremendously. Our airline will offer along with the best service at the best prices. Create air travel affordable for everybody, we would also avoid the use of travel agents, and focus a lot of our sales through our offices and website. Changing these things will make it a more pleasant journey for everybody and start making air travel pleasant again and less hassle with so many fees and lack of flexibility.

Evaluation:

After evaluating the core good and bad points of creating such business-like Blankenese Airlines ], I believe that I do have certain tools to take on this project, but I believe that I would have to be more convinced that this will work. I still have some doubts in the respect that possibly it is not a good option to create a new airline, it is a tough industry, margins are low, and it is an expensive start-up. But I do know that there is a market for the service, but I don’t know if it is enough to make it a lucrative business.
